Chan Teng's philosophy on philosophy. Part 1

Philosophy seems to be a very profound subject which ordinary people of average intelligence do not need to be bothered with. There is often a misconception that to embrace philosophy, one has to be the modern-day Socrates and constantly ask questions which seems to have no satisfying answers. Following thisline of thought, many would neglect the idea of philosophising; thus crushing all possibilities accepting philosophy as an essential tool of leading a meaningful life. However, philosophy is merely a subject that attempts to understand the general principles and ideas that lie behind the various aspects of life. Philosophy is crucial for one who wishes to lead a purposeful existence for it liberates one from being trapped in various assumptions made by their society, allowing one to discover what is true and what is not.
